Tapi, bagaimana kalau ada teknologi operasional yang justru menawarkan &#8220;emisi negatif&#8221;? Artinya, bukannya menambah, pabrik malah mengurangi jumlah karbon yang ada di udara.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"18\">Konsep ini bukan sihir, melainkan murni perhitungan neraca massa (<i data-path-to-node=\"18\" data-index-in-node=\"66\">mass balance<\/i>). Selamat datang di konsep <b data-path-to-node=\"18\" data-index-in-node=\"106\"><i data-path-to-node=\"18\" data-index-in-node=\"106\">Bioenergy with Carbon Capture and Storage<\/i> (BECCS)<\/b>.<\/p>\n<h3 data-path-to-node=\"19\">Membajak Siklus Karbon Alam<\/h3>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"20\">Konsep emisi negatif BECCS bertumpu pada satu hal: menggunakan biomassa (seperti limbah agroindustri kelapa sawit atau ampas tebu) sebagai bahan bakar pembangkit energi, menggantikan batu bara.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"21\">Secara natural, tanaman tersebut sudah menyerap karbon dioksida dari udara selama masa hidupnya (fotosintesis). Ketika limbah tanaman ini dibakar di dalam <i data-path-to-node=\"21\" data-index-in-node=\"155\">boiler<\/i> pabrik, karbon yang tadinya diserap akan terlepas kembali.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"22\">Di sinilah <i data-path-to-node=\"22\" data-index-in-node=\"11\">twist<\/i>-nya: alih-alih membiarkan asapnya terlepas ke cerobong, emisi tersebut ditangkap menggunakan teknologi <i data-path-to-node=\"22\" data-index-in-node=\"120\">Carbon Capture<\/i>, lalu diinjeksi ke bawah tanah (CCS). Hasil akhirnya secara perhitungan neraca massa? Karbon yang awalnya ada di udara, kini berpindah ke bawah tanah. Pabrik menghasilkan energi, dan bumi kehilangan satu beban emisi.<\/p>\n<h3 data-path-to-node=\"23\">Tantangan Realita Operasional di Lapangan<\/h3>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"24\">Di atas kertas, BECCS terdengar seperti solusi pamungkas. Namun, realita operasionalnya tidak semudah itu. Ada satu pertanyaan kritis yang harus dijawab oleh para <i data-path-to-node=\"24\" data-index-in-node=\"163\">engineer<\/i> sebelum membangun fasilitas ini: <i data-path-to-node=\"24\" data-index-in-node=\"205\">Apakah energi yang dihasilkan sepadan?<\/i><\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"25\">Proses menangkap karbon, memurnikannya, hingga mengkompresinya menjadi wujud superkritis membutuhkan asupan energi listrik dan panas yang sangat masif.
